Entrepreneur, an arts enthusiast, philanthropist and one of Nigeria’s most influential people according to Forbes magazine, and with more than 14 years of professional experience, Bella Disu shows us her strategic leadership as Executive Vice President of Globacom, a multinational telecommunications company operating in Nigeria and Ghana. She is also CEO of Cobblestone Properties and Estates Limited, a leading company in the creation and development of luxury properties in Nigeria. She is also a non-executive director at Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, director at Abumet Plc, dedicated to the manufacture of glass and aluminum and has been named Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Letter Awards in recognition of her effort to preserve the art and culture of France.
Belinda “Bella” Ajoke Olubunmi Disu was born on May 29, 1986 and is the daughter of Adefolake Emilia Adeguna and Mike Adenuga, Nigeria’s second richest man and president of Globacom. She began her studies at Crown School on Victoria Island in Lagos, and then continued them at Queen’s College for his secondary education. In 1998 she left Queen’s College and moved to Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, where she graduated in 2000. After high school, she went to the US. where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a Master of Leadership from Northeastern University,also in the same city of New England, one of the most important university cities in the country.
After completing her studies at the university, she returned to Nigeria and joined “Globacom Ltd”, a multinational telecommunications company that, in addition to Nigeria and Ghana, also operates, in the United Kingdom and France and of which she is now executive director of the group. In 2011 she took on an additional role as Execituve Director of the group “Cobblestone Properties and Estates Limited” to become CEO in 2015. We have already mentioned that she is also the non-executive director of Julius Berger PLC, and director of Abumet PLC. As the youngest member of both companies, Bella brings her enthusiasm for innovation and transformation to boost productivity in her organizations. At Julius Berger, she is currently also a member of the Board’s Audit and remuneration Committees and of the communications, training and development strategy subcommittees.
But, in addition to being an extraordinary entrepreneur, Bella Disu, stands out for her passion for art in all her aspects and her eagerness to help others, especially women. For this reason, she founded and is president of the Bella Disu Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the education and work qualities of the underprivileged children. She is also a promoter of French language and culture through the Alliance Francoise Project at the Mike Adenuga Alliance Francois Centre in Ikoyi in Lagos and stands out for her contribution to musical learning at the Nigerian Music Society.
In January 2019 she was appointed executive vice president of Globacom.
