The UK has been embroiled in a controversy in recent months as, after 47 years of marriage, it will leave the European Union. This has also been joined by the recent resignation of the Dukes of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, to their work representing the Royal Household. However, this situation of political instability and economic uncertainty has not overshadowed the expected London Fashion Week.

Matty Bovan has been one of the most avant-garde designers of the London week. His collection was characterized by its aesthetic anarchy, energetic dynamism and its constant magnetism. A mix of textures, colors and silhouettes that redefines a new concept of luxury. Petar Petrov, the designer of Bulgarian origin who debuted at London Fashion Week, opted for a simple and timeless elegance, with leather robes and thick coats and linings, interspersed with different varieties of dresses from day to night. Rejina Pyo reveled in a grim collection that represents the current global situation: measures taken internationally by Trump, Brexit, climate change, the coronavirus epidemic… This season the designer has also experimented with tough industrial materials, such as rubber-coated ankle boots and has developed and presented her first shoe, with contrast panels and thick soles; I also opt for sustainable and pragmatic clothing. Richard Quinn offered us a real show in its purest form. Flowers, striking colors and latex, all with very eighty touches, who were the protagonists of the catwalk. By the way, Victoria Beckham presented the English style at its highest and most genuine expression, with a collection of very sophisticated working looks in which she highlighted the preppy style, marked by lay skirts, tartan and Prince of Wales print, collared shirts and large lacings and thigh-gripping leather boots. But she also opted for a series of very stylish black dresses with a dizzying neckline, combined with fine belts and a return to the scarf print and the continuity of the puffed sleeves, as well as three-quarter coats and tailor pants or culotte; a truly sublime show that was very applauded. Simone Rochas, after her collection presented last season, spring 2020, returns to the origins of femininity. The brand showed an ultra-feminine, elegant, romantic and dreamy collection.Erdem presented a majestic collection, inspired by Italian actress, model and silent film photographer Tina Modotti. Puffed and exaggerated sleeves, intense colors, long floral dresses structured with couture airs, a mixture of romanticism and revolution.

Christopher Kane, always innovative, has offered us a collection based on geometric patterns, inspired by Adam and Eve in Eden, in satin coats and structured skirts. On the other hand, Burberry was one of the most-anticipated show and his creative director Riccardo Tisci left his transgressive design and street style for this season to present a modern collection in the purest English style, recreating classic garments that evoke the origins and signs of identity of the English brand. JW Anderson exhibited a masterful collection featuring XL coats with oversized lapels, capes, puffed sleeves, plush dresses and balloon skirts. An extraordinary set of volumes designed with ingenuity and a lot of mastery and personality. The show also featured a luxury front row featuring personalities such as Susie Lau, Camille Charrier, Eve, Naomi Ackie, Charli XCX, Alexa Chung and Billy Porter, among others.

In short, London never disappoints. A wonderful and frenetic week in which we have enjoyed the best shows on the catwalk. Upcoming stops: Milan and Paris.
